Bee bread is pollen that bees have fermented in the honeycomb. That makes it both a bee product and a pollen product, so it is not for everyone. Here is who should not take bee bread and what else to keep in mind.
If you are allergic to pollen or bee products
If you are allergic to pollen (for example hay fever), honey, propolis or other bee products, bee bread is not for you. The same goes for bee pollen.
If you are not sure
If you have never had bee products and don't know how you react, ask your doctor before you try it.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and medication
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, check with your doctor before starting any food supplement, including bee bread.
Children under 1 year
Do not give bee bread to children under 1 year. Children from 1 year can start with half a pastille a day and later have a whole one.
If you have a reaction
If you get itching, swelling, a rash or difficulty breathing after taking bee bread, stop immediately and contact a healthcare professional. If you have severe difficulty breathing, call 112.
